






Peter B. Brekhus has practiced as a civil trial attorney in Marin County for nearly 40
years, trying hundreds of cases to verdict. He is known in the legal community as a
formidable adversary and has been recognized as a trial specialist by the National
Board of Trial Advocates.
Peter primarily represents clients in land use, municipal and zoning law, business
and commercial law, construction and personal injury matters. Peter served as City
Attorney or Assistant City Attorney for the City of Larkspur from 1967 to 1973.
He was Assistant Trial Attorney for the Marin Municipal Water District and the Town
of Ross from 1967 to 1973. He was Mayor of Ross from 1982-1983, 1988-1989
and 1993 to 1994. He has represented homeowners,
developers, contractors, restaurant owners, financial investors, and other
businesses. Peter also has extensive appellate experience and has numerous
published decisions.
Peter is a strong advocate and his commitment to providing excellent legal service

Peter obtained his B.S. in Business from the University of San Francisco. He
graduated from the University of San Francisco, School of Law in 1964. Peter has
lived in Ross with his wife since 1973, where he raised three children, two of whom
are practicing attorneys and one of whom is a city planner.
Elizabeth Brekhus began practicing law in Marin County in 1997 and became a
partner of the Brekhus Law Partners in 2006. She has tried or arbitrated dozens of
cases. She is committed to exploring all reasonable opportunities to settle a case,
but if a settlement is not possible or advantageous, she is equally committed to
trying a case.
Major practice areas include real property disputes, including adjoining neighbor
and easement disputes, failure to disclose cases, municipal/zoning matters,
commercial and business disputes, including breach of contract and construction
disputes, and insurance litigation. Elizabeth also practices appellate law and has
numerous published decisions.
Elizabeth was elected to a 4-year term on the Ross Town Council in June of 2012,
and was elected Mayor Pro Temp in 2013.
Elizabeth was elected to the Board of Directors of the Marin County Bar Association
in 2006, was elected Secretary in 2011, Treasurer in 2012, President-elect in 2013
and is President for 2012.
Elizabeth obtained her B.A at Kenyon College in 1993. She graduated from the
University of San Francisco, School of Law in 1997.
A native of Marin County, Elizabeth resides in Ross with her husband and three
children.
